HISTORY OF ADELE KENNELS The long term success of Adele Kennels had its beginning in 1960. It started with a focus on producing sound, top-quality dogs with good temperament. It has continued that way ever since. In the seventies and eighties Adele Kennels owned or produced Canadian and American Specialty winners and remained in the top ten working and all-breed classes. It was the only kennel to hold the position of #1 Bouvier in Canada and the United States in the same year. EVIL While most kennels start their breeding programs with a foundation bitch, owner Carlo Vander Muren, began with his stud “Evil”. At the young age of nine months, Evil started his claim to fame at his first two shows by taking Best of Breed over Specials. His first Best Puppy in Show was achieved at his third show. When he was four years old he took his first Best in Show. It was in 1977 that Evil was campaigned to the #1 Bouvier position in the United States. He then set another record by rising to #1 Bouvier in Canada in the very same year! Evil was brought out of retirement to compete in the 1979 American Specialty at Cobo Hall, Detroit. Competing against 212 Bouviers, he came from the veteran’s class to win the Specialty. At age nine and a half, Evil won his last Best in Show. As a finale, at nearly twelve years of age, he won the American Specialty for the second time, the only Bouvier up to that point to do so out of the veteran’s class. While Evil achieved so many accomplishments and set records in the show ring, he also left his definitive mark on all his offspring. Some of the top kennels in the country have built up their stock with Evil as their foundation. SECOND WIND After a hiatus for health reasons, Carlo started up his kennel again in 1997. He continues to seek out breeding stock based on the solid pedigrees of his foundation championship lines. He remains committed to responsible breeding practices. His kennel operation focuses on his dedication to producing show-quality dogs as well as maintaining clean, efficient facilities. |
